Expeditions

Unlike many digital environment artists who rely on flat reference images, we go to the source of realism - Mother Nature. We conduct photographic expeditions to diverse settings to gather reference material in various media. Observing nature's changing splendor on location maximizes our familiarity with her processes: water-flow, winds, erosion, rock formations, vegetation distribution, and the nuances of lighting. We love to get our hands dirty in the field and consider it our duty.

Expedition QuadSpinner has taken us to Costa Rica, where we traversed her volcanic chain and dense tropical rainforests. In India, we journeyed into the expansive desert, the Rann of Kachchh. In the US, the magnificent arid canyons of the Southwest and the beautiful woodland mountains of the Pacific Northwest have also been important teachers.
