Material Development Kit 1.0
This debut volume of cutting-edge technologies –
now replete
with the free MDK 1.1 upgrade – empowers you with endless possibilities
and superior control over color, shape, displacement, and texture.
We believe that granularity is the key to digital nature. And our MDK directly supports
that philosophy. These smart tools generate exacting granularity and texture without
disrupting the artist's pure vision. You can achieve radical levels of realism and
enjoy the process more. The MDK gives you the freedom to focus on your desired end
results without getting bogged down by the math. But don't take our word for it
- see for yourself!
The complete
Material Development Kit 1.0 includes
Tincture,
LightBender,
Supernoi,
CrackMaker,
and
RockBreaker.
Whether purchased separately or as a Value Pack, all revolutionary MDK 1.0 components
were painstakingly designed to set you and your work apart. We take our expressed
commitment to give you innovative tools seriously!
Check out the
MDK's powerful features:
- Unparalleled shortcuts to realism at your fingertips: the harvest
of QuadSpinner's rich field study, stripped into
different fractals in Vue, and encapsulated into these intelligent MetaNodes.
- Multi-level functions are condensed into individual MetaNodes.

- Friendly intelligence: the math is built inside the MetaNodes.
You make the strategic decisions, set your primary preferences, and all the interdependent
math calculations will automatically and proportionately align themselves.
- All key elements that comprise the MetaNodes are exposed so you
can easily modify them. The middle calculations are handled for you, enabling you
to focus on intended results instead of laborious and time-consuming trial and error.
- MetaNode settings are treated by feature rather than by functionality. For example,
in any given MetaNode, instead of having to deal with multiple fractals, filters
and dozens of corresponding properties, we encapsulate them in small intelligently
named chunks. This smart system allows you to concentrate on the visual results
(cracks, flaking, color, etc) rather than on the burdensome math (fractals, maps,
filters).

- These MetaNodes either replace existing Vue default nodes or provide new functionality
that wasn't present before, arming you with more power and greater ease.
For example, the Tincture nodes are 16-48 times more complex than Vue's default
nodes. Just ponder that!
- Every parameter is extractable and can be connected to any other node, creating
limitless possibilities and enhanced openness and flexibility.
- Intuitive names inside the MetaNodes take away the guesswork of
specific functions, minimizing your learning curve.
- All nodes provide 'explicit output' so you can expand upon them
as needed.

- These tools are developed for reusability. Save modified copies
of MetaNodes as Quickstarts and build your own Presets Library.
- All MetaNode aspects can be animated. The entire MDK has been optimized
for large scale film and animation purposes.
- All nodes come with QuadSpinner's signature render speed enhancements
to help balance and safeguard that critical ratio between speed and quality.
- We've ensured full compatibility in Vue from versions 8.5 through 10.5
MDK 1.1 Features:
- Complete overhaul of the logic structure for full compatibility
with Vue 9.5 and higher versions.
- Revamped with even more intuitive controls. Now you can access the MDK MetaNodes
directly in the Advanced Material Editor. There is no need to go
inside the Function Editor to change the MetaNodes’ values.
- Simplified parameters let you choose specific visual surface features,
while the MDK orchestrates the logic to ensure beautiful shapes every time.

- Rotation and Twist is now available directly inside the MetaNodes.
In complex MetaNodes, Rotation and Twist is available for each individual
visual feature, giving you extensive control over the shapes' orientations. These
Rotation and Twist options remain independent of the composite material's
Rotation and Twist, arming you with maximum control.
- New attributes have been added to many MetaNodes, i.e. the Strata
option in CrackMaker’s Tecton.
- Boolean options have replaced the more cumbersome sliders in specific scenarios.
Now, instead of finding the right setting for a slider, you simply check the
feature option and the MDK calculates the optimal settings.
- Fast tweaking is now available, allowing you to quickly alter the
shape of specific features by using a Filter.
- Our signature Render Speed Enhancements are back with more options and increased
optimization! You can enjoy a superior balance between speed and quality.
